Nischal Neupane, Program Manager

I am a lifelong learner, deeply interested in how private and public, and local and global moralities shape individual and communal level engagements with the (natural) world. I am passionate about centering compassion, kindness and justice in conversations around climate adaptation and resilience, and actively deconstructing my understanding of and engagement with environmentalism and the conservation movement. I come from the Himalayas. I have a Masters’ in the Human dimensions of Environmental Conservation and have 10+ years of experience in programs and grants management in the nonprofit sector. Before Loka, I was at the Mind & Life Institute, and managed their Summer Research Institutes. I also conceived of, designed and eventually implemented the Contemplative Changemaking Grants. I am a son, a brother, a friend, kin to the more-than-human world, and perhaps most importantly, an uncle to Nayara and Juniper, and am trying to do as much as I can to create a future where these little ones have a fighting chance. I am deeply honored and grateful to be at Loka.
